PIPESTONE ALLEY ACTIVATION PROJECT LAUNCHES COMMUNITY MURAL PAINTING SESSIONS

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. (July 15, 2024) - The Pipestone Alley Activation Project is set to kick off with public mural painting sessions starting Wednesday, July 17th, inviting community members to participate in transforming this downtown space into a vibrant art installation. Led by local artist Kimberly Wood of The Seventh Studio, this initiative aims to enhance and activate Pipestone Alley into a pivotal pathway within Benton Harbor's dynamic downtown. 

Jillian Nadolski, Manager of Physical Development and lead on this project, expressed excitement about the initiative: "We are excited to be further stimulating the reinvestment along Main Street, continuing to optimize our underutilized spaces and capitalizing on the growing activity in downtown. By creating a space for the community—brought to life by the community—we aim to bring people together, gaining momentum for greater future investment for area businesses, visitors, and the community alike." 

The painting sessions are open to everyone, regardless of artistic experience. Participants are encouraged to bring their creativity and enthusiasm to contribute to the mural's design and color palette, guided by Kimberly Wood's expertise. 

Community members interested in participating are invited to join starting Wednesday, July 17th, to play a hands-on role in this exciting community initiative. Participants should dress comfortably for painting and are encouraged to bring friends and family to share in the creative experience. Refreshments and snacks will be provided.
